Limit the amount of sugar you consume.

I’m sure many of you read Mark Bittman NYT’s article last week, It’s The Sugar, Folks or Michael Moss’ lengthy NYT’s Magazine piece, The Extraordinary Science Of Addictive Junk Food, each highlighting new evidence that sugar is toxic and well, just junk. Continue reading

When you find, are given, or concoct your own delicious healthy recipes you love, write them down. Buy a personal cookbook this week and enter three recipes into it for the rest of this month’s challenge (then continue on). Having your own personal cookbook will help to you to make quick decisions about meals you should eat. The process of having to choose and decide from infinite possibilities in and of itself can easily wreck your healthy food lifestyle. Continue reading

Commit to trying and trying to like one new healthy food a week for the next few weeks.

You might even find that you’re spontaneously losing weight without even thinking about it–hopefully your new healthy foods will replace some of the bad stuff as you exchange meat and simple carbs with legumes, veggie proteins, grains. Forget about what’s circulating around you in the office, what’s in your company’s kitchen or vending machine, what your colleagues are eating, whose birthday people are celebrating, whether you’re at a breakfast, lunch, or dinner meeting, or attending a conference. Cabbage and Avocado Salad

I’m an ardent fan of light, simple, easy-to-make and buy lunches. I think of my diet as the reverse European diet; I prefer eating minimally during the day and wholesomely at dinner time (between 6pm and 7:30pm). Continue reading
