One session with Julie, and I already feel transformed. I came in complaining of tight IT bands, knee pain, a little unwanted weight gain…and left not only feeling longer, leaner, and pain free…but also calmer and filled with new motivation. She was so quick to discover the source of my problems; so thorough in addressing these needs; and so insightful as to find new ways for me to achieve my goals. I never realized I had over-developed quads…or that my cardio routine was doing more harm than good. I never realized the importance of a good long stretch, the incorporation of the breath, and indulging in a little body work after work-outs. As a dancer and a yogi, I consider myself already fairly knowledgeable when it comes to nutrition and exercise. But Julie’s method has shown me even MORE ways to improve my lifestyle: a holistic approach through food, exercise, and rest. Even a day after our session, the good vibes linger. I feel so much space in my spine; so much breath in my body; clearness of mind too, as I bring new-found awareness to my eating habits. Thank you, Julie, for unleashing this light!

A yoga studio is not only a presentation of the yoga philosophy of its teachers and spiritual leader, but also a reflection of the managerial vision and leadership of its owner. I am continuously grateful that Julie Wilcox decided to start the ISHTA Yoga Studio with Alan Finger and that she remains dedicated to the highest standards in its day-to-day running. In addition, Julie continues to be one of my favorite yoga teachers. Her combination of exceptional athleticism with deep respect for the principles of ISHTA yoga, make her classes both inspiring and grounding.

Just wanted to express my enthusiasm for last Saturday’s workshop run by Julie Wilcox. I have not signed up for a yoga class in a while but I was interested in a Core workout and saw your ad in The Independent. I thought Julie did a great job explaining what ISHTA is as well as running an excellent class. Class size was perfect, poses ranged from easy to challenging, and Julie offered individual assistance with poses where needed. I hope she will be a guest instructor in the future and I expect to sign up for more yoga classes at Yoga Soup based on this positive experience. I know Julie mentioned a retreat in Napa while she is still in town which I unfortunately will not be able to attend but if she is teaching any other classes at Yoga Soup during her brief stay, please post it on your website or send me an email.
I was lucky enough to meet Julie Wilcox several years ago. I was then in my late 70s and concerned with age (naturally) and balance. She understood my needs and designed a program around them. Her program challenges me but she does not push me beyond my limits. Before meeting Julie, I maintained a modest program of walking and swimming. Then I combined them with her yoga. I now feel and act like I’m much younger. Everything changed thanks to her.
