About

HEALTHY, PAIN-FREE, GRACEFUL, STRONG

Hi Everyone!

I’m Julie, a seasoned health and wellness expert with two decades of experience across nutrition, yoga, and fitness. I have taught thousands of clients individually, through institutional wellness programs, and via my entrepreneurial ventures, which include: founder of the Julie Wilcox Method; co-founder and CEO of ISHTA Yoga; adjunct Professor of Health and Fitness at St. Francis College; Health and Wellness Writer and Content Creator with articles and videos featured in Forbes, FoxNews, MindBodyGreen, Parade, Refinery29, and Greatist to name a few.

Nutrition Coaching and Counseling

My nutrition philosophy is grounded in science and delivers evidence-based solutions, tips, and practical tools you can implement into your daily living. As a nutritionist, my purpose is to help you understand and navigate  the different avenues of plant-based eating. I offer strategies, meal plans, and recipes to help you transition from an omnivorous diet to a meat-reduced or meat-free diet, focusing on four common eating patterns: flexitarian, pescatarian, vegetarian, and vegan. My goal is to be by your side to help you discover and implement the diet that best suits your personal needs so that you not only feel confident in yourself and your body, but also healthy and energetically balanced. Studies show that plant-based diets can reduce and even reverse heart disease, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, stroke, auto-immune disease and so much more, while lowering all-cause mortality.

Yoga and Fitness

As a yoga and fitness teacher, I meet you where you are. Whether you’re new to exercise, an advanced practitioner, injured, suffering from a chronic disease, want to lose weight, are pregnant, postpartum, or simply seek to improve your health, de-stress, lower your anxiety levels, emerge from depression, or cope with the realities of aging, I have seen it all. I have also experienced it first-hand personally. I am here for you. I can help you. I believe in cross-training as the key to optimal health and well-being whether gardening and strolling, or running marathons and surfing giant waves. There's something for everyone and together we will find your passion.

And here's a little bit more about me...

I am a mom with a fourteen year-old daughter I love to death. We live in New York City, where I also grew up. In addition to cooking great meals at home and eating out, I love many forms of exercise such as yoga, running, tennis, skiing, hiking, and surfing to name a few favorites. My daughter joins me in pretty much all of my adventures. Five years ago, I went back to school at age forty and earned my Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at NYU. A decade prior, I completed my national certifications in yoga and fitness training through Yoga Alliance of American and ACE™. Finally, many moons ago, I completed my A.B. at Harvard College in English and American Literature and MFA in Directing at the American Film Institute.

"I'm a big fan of Julie's holistic practice. Since taking her yoga lessons, her nutrition guidance and meditative practice I feel more in touch with my body than ever before. I feel longer, more flexible, relaxed and in true control of my health. Julie is a wonderful instructor--she can literally say one sentence and a pose is entirely transformed. Her recipes are divine--her antioxidant smoothie is now my daily breakfast. And, I find myself uttering the words "let go" throughout my day. I can't recommend her enough."

"I have been training with Julie for 7 years. As an avid runner, spinner and pilates enthusiast, I felt that an important element of my fitness regimen was missing.  Julie is clearly that missing piece.  My strength, overall fitness, balance and flexibility have greatly improved.  Julie is exceptionally motivating, combining that rare talent of maximizing my efforts (hence, results) without demoralizing me as has happened with so many prior trainers.  Additionally, as a physician, I know Julie understands anatomy and physiology and is careful to avoid aggravating existing, or creating new, injuries.  I now look forward to my challenging workouts instead of dreading them."
